About the programme

G.N.M. is a three-year diploma that prepares nurses for general hospital and midwifery practice, and remains one of the most direct routes into nursing employment.

The curriculum covers anatomy and physiology, nursing foundations, medical-surgical nursing, child health, mental health, community health and midwifery. Clinical postings are extensive and begin early — the diploma is designed around ward learning.

Graduates register with the State Nursing Council and work as staff nurses in hospitals, nursing homes and community health settings. Post-basic B.Sc. Nursing is available as a progression route.

Eligibility

10+2 with minimum 40% marks (Arts, Commerce or Science). Candidate must be 17 years or older.
